Background: Endodontic treatment success relies on removing microorganisms from the root canal and preventing reinfection. Single-visit endodontic therapy is equally effective as multi-visit therapy, but proper irrigation is crucial. The current cross-sectional survey was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of dentists across India. Materials and Methods: A self-structured questionnaire containing 34 questions was sent to 1000 dentists to conduct this cross-section survey. The survey comprised 4 demographic questions, 15 questions assessing knowledge, 8 questions on attitude, and 7 questions on practices regarding endodontic irrigation. Pearson’s Chi-square test was employed to analyze the categorical variables. The alpha level was set at 5%. Results: A total of 416 (41.6%) responses were received. Sodium hypochlorite is used as a primary endodontic irrigant used by 320 (42.5%) dental practitioners in India. Syringe irrigation is most commonly performed with a 27-gauge needle. Smear layer removal is widely used with an increased tendency to adjust irrigant protocols based on pulp, periapex, and retreatment status. Conclusion: The survey responses were indicative of adequate knowledge among the dentists across India about irrigation; however, continuing dental education programs can enhance the knowledge and make the dentists adept in proper irrigation practices.
