Introduction: Thousands of people die every day around the world from infections attained while receiving health care. Hands are the pathway of germ transmission; hand hygiene is, therefore, a prime measure to avoid transmission. Caregivers of a person involved in direct or indirect patient care, need to be concerned about meticulous hand hygiene, and should be able to perform it promptly and decorously as primordial prevention. Aims: Broadly intent to a cynosure, “Save lives: Clean your hands World Health Organization (WHO campaign).” Materials and Methods: A comprehensive search of the literature database from various search engines emphasizing the importance of hand hygiene and available gray literature was included in the study. Results: Consistent evidence shows that hygiene is the building block of infection prevention and control. Implementation of optimal hand hygiene compliance in health-care facilities has resulted in a drastic reduction in the spread of health care-related infections. Conclusion: Hand hygiene in health care is a modifiable behavioral intervention and the WHO’s multimodal improvement strategy is a well-established, organized, and systematic approach to instigate optimal hand hygiene compliance in health-care facilities single cost-effective mechanism to fight back against all forms of infections.
