Abstract

Ectodermal dysplasia (ED) is a genetic disorder affecting the development or function of the teeth, hair, nails, and sweat glands. ED is a diverse group of inherited disorders that have many overlapping features like absence of sweat glands; the affected individuals may display heat intolerance and elevated body temperature. Patients affected with ED suffer from poor psychological and physiologic development because of unacceptable esthetics and abnormal functions of orofacial structures.
