Background: Dental practitioners have a duty of care to ensure that an effective and safe service is provided for their patients. The satisfactory performance in a medical emergency or in a resuscitation attempt in the dental practice has wide- ranging implications in terms of resuscitation equipment, resuscitation training, standards of care, clinical governance, risk management and clinical audit. This article reviews the management of medical emergencies and resuscitation and its equipments for dental practitioners and dental care professionals in general dental practice.
