Abstract

Background:  Completely or partially edentulous ridges that are atrophic or deficient in the buccolingual dimension often pose a challenge to successful implant therapy. Augmentative techniques of management include treatment modalities like autografts, ridge expansion, ridge splitting techniques, etc. The ridge splitting technique has the advantage of immediate implant placement without a transitional or waiting period of graft uptake or acceptance. This case report describes the said technique followed by placement of a dental implant in the left maxillary central incisor region. A piezoelectric ridge split was performed in relation to #21 and osteotomy was prepared to the required depth. An endosseous implant was placed in the prepared osteotomy site along with supposition of allogenous graft material stabilized with Platelet-rich fibrin(PRF) in the remainder of the split site. Osseointegration was successfully achieved and superstructure fabrication completed.
