Background: Increasing demand for a better appearance in patients with disfigured or missing part of the maxillofacial skeleton has encouraged dentists and researchers to come up with newer technologies and material. Maxillofacial prosthesis was first described by French surgeon Ambrose Pare in 1575.Today, with the advent of newer techniques, material, enhanced skill and knowledge; it is easier to rehabilitate oral and facial defects. Although there is a tremendous improvement in the material science and technologies still the quest continues for an ideal biomimetic material.
