Background: The purpose of the study was to assess the knowledge of dental practitioners pertaining to the influence of factors such as retention, aesthetics, mastication, speech and post insertion comfort of patients wearing complete denture Materials and methods: A cross sectional questionnaire survey was done among sixty dental practitioner. Eligible participants were administered with structured questionnaires (35questions). Post-insertion complaints, as reported by the dentist were recorded. The collected data was statistically analyzed using SPSS version 16. Chi square test was used to assess the difference between the Prosthodontist and general practitioner Result: The data shows statistically significant difference between the general practitioner and the Prosthodontist in using impression technique and type of impression materials used. Significant difference was found between the gender about the complaints and satisfactory factors. Conclusion: In most of this study, insufficient retention, ulcerations, speech difficulties caused most patient dissatisfaction as reported by the dentist. Prosthodontist were ahead of general practitioner with respect to newer techniques, implies the needed academic / professional training towards the same in other speciality and general practitioner.
