Collagen cross-linking agents provide strength, reinforcement, and stabilization to the fibrils and, thereby, increase the mechanical properties of dentin. It can be induced by either physical or chemical reagents. Several natural and synthetic collagen cross-linking agents have been employed to decrease the degradation of dentin. The use of collagen cross-linking agents in caries affected tooth improves the dentin bonding durability by stabilization of collagen fibrils and also plays an important role in remineralization. This article provides an overview of various collagen cross-linking agents and their applications in endodontics.
