Background: Mandible is one of the many bones in an intricately arranged craniofacial skeleton. Mandibular fractures are not uncommon and have been well documented and thoroughly studied. Classification of mandibular fractures is one area which has been changing and updating ever since the first classification reported by Rowe and Killey. Classification helps in understanding the pattern of fracture and in communicating about the type of fracture. This paper gives an insight into most of mandibular fracture classifications. Keywords: Classification, fractures, mandible, symphysis, body, angle, Rowe, Spiessl.
