Background: The child’s emotional and behavioral response to dental treatment is a matter of serious concern to the pediatric dentist. Children usually respond to dental visits with some fear and anxiety. Delivery of effective dental treatment to a child patient requires thorough knowledge to recognize dental fear and its management by the application of behavioural management techniques. Audiovisual modeling can be successfully used in pediatric dental practice. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of modelling technique on behaviour management in pediatric dental patients. Materials and methods: 100 children between the age of 4 – 10 yrs were selected who did not cooperate during the OPD and then they were shown a video in whom the behaviour change was observed during the subsequent dental visits. Result: It was observed that most of the children who were not cooperative during their first visit gradually developed a positive attitude during the dental treatment after the video was shown to them. Conclusion: Audio visual modelling technique can be an effective tool in managing uncooperative children in the dental office.
