Purpose: The study was conducted to compare the efficacy of dexmedetomidine and midazolam in third molar surgery. Materials andMethods: A total of 40 patients belonging to ASA grade I or II were included in the study. The baseline vitals of the patients were recorded, moreover the anxiety score, pain score, amnesia score, cooperative scale, Ramsey Sedation score, Modified Steward score recorded. Results: The study concludes that although widely midazolam is used for sedation, dexmedetomidine is a suitable alternative and in many ways better replacement for the former drug.
